In 1888 , real estate ads mentioned they were along the B&O Railroad in Sykesville.
In 1920, the body of a young lady was found along the tracks. Early investigation hinted it might have been a suicide. However there were many points at the time made against it being a suicide.
In 1931, it appears a man committed suicide by jumping under the wheels of a train at the station.
According to the article the man stated ” I wish I were dead. When does the next train arrive”.
The man apparently had been sick and was suffering mental illness.
In 1941 – curtailments along the B&O tracks apparently included Sykesville.

In 1985 – Town officials worked to get possession of the old depot from the Chessie Railroad, which owned the building at the time, used as an office and beginning to fall apart. It was believed at the time that the station was perhaps the oldest building in Town. One of the reasons Chessie would not sell the building at the time was that it was still listing the building as operating, using part of it for storage.

Sykesville Maryland train station before the Town bought it and fixed it up.

In 1988, the Town voted to use $1,500 that had from the sale of a old police car for the renovation of the depot.
