Western Maryland Railroad
Sorry for the delay on the information on this station. We got the image before we got the information but anyway, here goes.
In 1868, the Emittsburg Railroad was to build a connection off of the Western Maryland Railroad to Emittsburg. The station appears to have been along the Western Maryland Railroad, in Frederick County from what we can tell.
1884 – Rocky Ridge ias listed in a schedule posted as between Emmittsburg Station and “D.P. Creek Station”. The next stop was Frederick. It would take about 2 1/2 hours to travel from Baltimore to Rocky Ridge. 1892 showed the same stops along the Western Maryland Railroad.
In 1905, there was a train wreck of a freight train that slowed up the railroad, although there was no reports of injuries or deaths as a result. The WMRR again shows the same schedule for trains this year with the same stops.
In 1921, the Station was ” robbed “, or in better terms broken into, and a large amount of pennies were stolen ( Remember this was in 1921 ) . The Article mentions nearby Keymar also being broken into that night. The station was also known as “Emmittsburg Junction”.
