Ocean City Train Station – Maryland

Worcester County, Maryland
Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic Railroad (BC&A RR)
Baltimore & Eastern Railroad
No longer standing

From what we can tell, the Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic Railroad (BC&A RR) had a small Passenger depot back in the 1890’s, on the Southwest Corner of Baltimore Avenue at Worcester Street, just north of the larger freight depot , which was located at Baltimore Avenue and South Division. By 1904, a BC&A RR passenger depot was built and located on the East side of Philadelphia Avenue , between Somerset Street and Wicomico Street. The station remained until the Great Hurricane of 1933 destroyed it. Housing Units now occupy the block where the passenger depot had been and a parking lot is now found where the freight had been. The railroad went by the name of the Baltimore & Eastern in later years.

Ocean City’s “Rebuilt” Train Station – 2019

So, every once in a while, I find something by accident, which is perfect for the website. In November 2019, I was taking a walk along the top of end of the Ocean City Boardwalk, and found this rest station that was built by Ocean City, Maryland back in 1991. It was built to resemble the old train station of the Town and has been kept in excellent shape. Nice job, Ocean City !
