Love Point, at one time, was used as a park as Steamboats brought passengers from Baltimore. There was a Love Point train line that went from the Point to Lewes Pier in Delaware. Love Point “replaced” the Claiborne stop along the way to Ocean City . A recent drive to the area found homes dotting the shoreline and nothing left of the park or the station.
1905 – Saw mention of the Love Point Stations along the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Railroad.
In 1910 – The Baltimore Sun had a short song for the stop of Love Point from Baltimore towards Queenstown. (Song by Bentztown Bard)
1911 found ads for the Love Point Hotel.
1912 – Ads were popping up of lots for sale at Love Point, although thre was little mention of the train station there.
1913 – Saw an auction on the grounds of the Love Point Hotel. Not completely sure what they were auctioning.

In 1920, a train is finally mentioned in the papers as those who visit Love Point can catch a train to the Kent Island Narrows for some very good fishing.
in 1921 – a summer excursion via steamer would run you $1. for a trip that lasted about 2 hours. ( 27 miles )
In 1923, there was a plan to have a freight ferry from Canton in Baltimore City to Love Point, to help with trade on the Eastern Shore. The plan mentioned the end of use to Claiborne Pier.

In 1910, there was debate of using Love Point instead of Claiborne. The article called it “M&M” or “Merchants & Manufactures Assn. ” which would cut times along the line, while allowing access to Philadelphia.
In 1924, The line from Love Point to Lewes Delaware was being reopened after a brief shut down on the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Railroad, which underwent a foreclosure and was now the Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic Railroad.
