Lonaconing had both train activity and a trolley line that passed through. The train station is long gone. Lonaconing actually has a Main Street that forks off of the road seen in the postcard above.
In 1884 a excursion train left Lonaconing to Mountain Lake Park with 1,000 tickets sold from Lonaconing.
In 1936, a fighy broke out along the railroad tracks in Lonaconing, which resulted in both parties being struck by a passing coal train.
