A 1920 Real Estate ad for Linthicum Heights has the ABC’s for why you should move to the neighborhood. ” A is a Altitude…..” and under the letter “F” is “Fare” showing the costs to only be 13 cents to Baltimore, on a 17 minute ride. If you had questions, you could speak to a representative at the Linthicum Heights train depot.
In 1948 – this station and all the stations along the WB&A ( and B&A ) Railroad were the subject of a Maryland Public Service Commission report regarding the rail service changing over to buses. When asked about the current use of the stations, the attorney for the railroad stated ” we never said we would continue to operate empty trains ” , stating more or less buses now ruled the routes the trains had covered.
In 1986, William Donald Schaefer was campaigning at the Linthicum Train Depot on a Whistle Stop of Anne Arundel County, for a bid to become governor. There was about a crowd of 100 people and one heckler who caused a brief commotion. Schaefer won the race for Governor and served two terms.
