Greensboro Train Station
Caroline County – Maryland
Pennsylvania Railroad
While it appeared to no longer be standing, I heard rumors’ it was moved years ago and is now a residence. I recently heard from a reader who confirmed the old station building is still standing and being used. I am working to get information on the building, so please stay tuned…….
…..Update – It appears the old station was moved back in 1957, and seems to be presently on a horse farm just outside of Chestertown, Maryland. It was restored and looks to be in excellent condition, and is used as a guest house.
In 1897, a box of “medicine” bottles disappeared from the Greensboro Depot, valued at $17. About half a mile down the tracks, the empty box and several bottles were found along the tracks. The Station Agent received a note and $10 a few days later from a unknown person stating ” Part Payment for the Medicine”,
It appears there might have also been a freight station in Greensboro, and I believe I have a photo of that as well, just have to find it. We have also seen the Town listed as “Greensborough” in earlier years.
