For the past two years , we have listed this restored freight station as the Girdletree Freight station, but evidence shows it very likely may be the Ironshire Freight Station instead. From what we have come to understand, the old Ironshire Depot, mainly used for freight, was moved by a resident to this area and restored. Located on the lower Maryland Eastern Shore, we plan more research, but for now we have made the change for what we believe it is. Any help would be appreciated.
Our 2033 update; Although the sign on the old station clearly says ” Girdletree”, and it is now located in Girdletree, Maryland, I am led to believe the building above is the old Ironshire depot, that according to the Maryland Historical Trust website, was moved to Girdletree a few years back and sits on a farm. I found no record of a Girdletree Freight depot. The building, which I found a few years back, looks to be in very nice condition and appears to be well cared for.
