1911 U.S. Geographic Board mentions the name of the station is Childs and not Child . The town is just North of Elkton. With the addition of the Train station, the area went by the name of Child’s Station.
In 1912 , Child’s Station was damaged when a freight train crashed and derailed at the station, causing the death of cattle and sheep on the train. The freight warehouse was destroyed as a result and the passenger station suffered damage as well.
1925 saw the explosion of a boiler of a train engine, resulting in the death of two crew members.
In 1929, there was yet another freight train wreck at the station which closed the tracks for hours.
After 1930, I found no other references to this station.
