Ammendale Train Station – Maryland

Between Laurel Station and Beltsville Station

Built near the Ammendale Christian School Campus. Not sure what the two had to do with each other, as there is little I have found written about the train station. It shows up on old maps until the 1960’s.
In 1891, the station was mentioned for a gathering where two men ended up getting shot, and traveling by train to Baltimore for care.
Listed in the 1904 Gazetteer as a Post Village along the B&O Railroad.
In 1906 – a Real Estate ad was found for property that made mention to the Ammendale Station.
In 1908, there was talk of moving a college to Ammendale from Ellicott City, and mention was made how the location was right along the railroad.
Real Estate ads were also found for the year 1883,
In 1916, there was a torch run where runners left the White House in Washington D.C., and ended up at Ammendale Station, in a area known as Section “C”, for this run . I believe the runners continued towards Baltimore after that. The runners would conclude in Baltimore, where they wuld deliver a message to the mayor of Baltimore.
