Update – I had a feeling the exterior of the Aberdeen Station would be done soon and I was right. Fast forward to Early October, 2024, and a check of the old station shows that much work has been completed on the old B&O Station.

Just a few months ago, progress was coming along on the old train station.

Work is on going at the B&O Train station in Aberdeen Maryland. –

The Aberdeen B&O Station had been vacant for several years, and plans had been in the works to restore the old station.  We have updated the progress.
There is also an active PRR Station in Aberdeen as well.

Because there are two train stations located in Aberdeen, some of the stories we have mentioned may have gotten mixed up referring to the correct station. Many of the news articles have no railroad reference in them.

1900 – An assault near the station resulted in a man hunt in the area around the depot.
In 1916 – an employee at the B&O Station was injured while preparing the train.
1936 – A farmer was killed by a train at the Station.

1962 saw a freight train derail near the station.
In 1969 – the Aberdeen B&O Station made the news when the wife of a U.S. Senator stopped at the station on what appears to have been a unscheduled stop to drop the Senator’s wife closer to home.
