Talbot County, Maryland Baltimore & Eastern Railroad
For years, steamboats would come over from Baltimore and Annapolis to Claiborne, where passengers could take the Baltimore & Eastern Railroad to Ocean City, Maryland. Around the 1920’s ( I’ll get an exact year ) , Love Point became the starting point for the trip East.
I’ve read stories of captains on the ferry boats and train engineers not getting along over train schedules. In 1950 , an article was written regarding the building of the Bay Bridge and the effect it would have on the old Ferry Boats. Stories detail how the train engineers would grow inpatient with docking ferry boats and leave before the boat had docked. That practice apparently ended when a reporter for a national publication was aboard one of those ferries that was left behind and wrote about the event.
