West End Motors

From Baltimore Afro American Newspaper

Working in Baltimore City for many years, I was able to see many buildings that allowed me to wonder just what that building had been ” back in the day “. In the 2100 block of Edmondson Avenue, on the Southside of the street, is a odd looking building just 1/2 block West of the old Bridge Theatre. One day at work, I grabbed a quick photo of it and forgot all about it, until I found an old ad for West End Motors, at 2127 Edmondson Avenue. It seems De Sotos and Plymouths were sold from here and from the best I can tell, the dealership was around from the late 1940’s to about 1960. In the late 1950’s , the ads posted in the Baltimore Sun were very eye grabbing and were neat to read.

From about 1948 to 1959, ads could be found in Baltimore Newspapers for West End Motors, located at 2127 Edmondson Avenue.

1957 showed three showrooms for West End Motors. Two years later, it appears that they closed down.

Kilduff’s loves creative themes in advertising and West End Motors used the Dragnet TV show theme in the ad, complete with the bail ( price of the car ) . Many older car ads have very creative and eye catching themes in their ads.

West End Motors 2006

From what I can tell, Westend Motors closed just prior to 1960.
