Autocars – Mount Royal Avenue ” Across from the Lyric Theatre “.
I suspect this was actually on Eutaw Street, just West of the Lyric, but I’m still working on this.

Above is the Autocar Motor Company on Mount Royal Avenue, back in 1909.
( Maybe Eutaw Street )

Early Lincoln advertising

Above is the earliest car advertisement I could find for Baltimore. I’m sure there are earlier ones, but this ad dates back to 1907 and was for the Mar-Del Mobile Company operating out of the “Garage” at Charles St & Mount Royal Avenue, home today of the University of Baltimore, and long used by various dealers over the years.

I saw the address of Mt.Royal and McMechen St. noted a lot. About one block South from the intersection with North Avenue, the area has been totally rebuilt and very little of the past exists today.

I found references to the Moon Martin Motor Car company only in 1920. And yes, I remember the 1980’s singer by the same name.

Many of the early advertising for Baltimore Car Dealerships focus around Mount Royal Avenue. North Avenue around the intersection of Howard Street appears to be the second area where car dealers began to pop up in Baltimore from around 1910 to 1920.
