Baltimore has quite a Beer History. Here is just a bit of what we have found.
Monumental Brewing Company was the rebirth of the Monarch Brewing Company which had financial problems. In 1900 , Monumental produced over 150,000 barrels of Beer, making it the City’s Largest at the time.
The most famous old beer building in Town has to be the American Brewery building on North Gay Street. For years, the old building sat vacant, but recently it has been renovated and is currently being used, although no longer for making beer.
For years I would drive by the old building, and I never really thought the building would get saved. One day I was parked in front of the building, and one of the people who helped save the building pulled up and told me of the plans to save the building.
Near the very bottom of Charles Street, this old bottling plant survives and I believe it too was recently renovated.
I’m trying to keep this page lite. The Kilduffs.com page has much more on Baltimore Beer.
