Digging up stories for some of these smaller stations be difficult , and I haven’t found much for the Avalon station, but the one that I did was of a murder at the station and the Court case afterwards. The station was along the route from Ellicott City and towards Orange Grove.
There was almost another Murder investigation near Avalon station in 1914, when a nearby resident heard someone yell ” Don’t Shoot’ following a gunshot. An officer from the nearby Catonsville Police Station was sent to investigate as the person who heard the shot believed they had heard a murder, but it turned out a person shot a snapping turtle that had bitten them.
In 1930, a woman was struck by a train while she was walking along the tracks.
