The Arcade lasted for many years and even the unique marquee stood for years. While the marquee has since been taken down, the Arcade building still stands and is currently used by area businesses and the actual theatre section as a church that we know of.

The Arcade opened in the late 1920’s, and was one of two theatres in Hamilton, the other being the Avon on Hamilton Avenue, right around the corner. The Arcade had a great marquee that really stood out and lasted until a few years ago, when it was taken down for structural reasons, around 2002 . The supports of the marquee had gotten weak, and the price to repair the heavy marquee was just too much. Sadly, nothing on the marquee was saved ! I remember the first time seeing the marquee and imagining how it must have looked at night, all lit up. The theater section of the building is actually in the back of the structure, where you must pass a long hallway  by several small shops to get there.
