Jackson / Whitaker Station – Cecil County, Maryland

Baltimore & Ohio Railroad

This was one a few mysteries I found when researching Maryland Railroad Stations. I knew it was along the B&O Line, but could not find a “Whitaker” . The story goes that a handful of Baltimore & Ohio employees got a hand cart and made their way up the B&O train line to Philadelphia Pa. The group got several really nice pictures from Baltimore County, Harford County and Cecil County. So I figured that should have pointed me in the right direction.

I had the same problem with the Harford Station that the group had photographed, but later research found that the Harford Station was the Sewell Station, just South of Belcamp. I found ONE reference online for the station that listed both names.

Whitaker was the earlier name of the Jackson station located North of Aiken , Cecil County, Maryland.

Jackson Maryland B&O Christmas Tree

Kilduff’s will post anything we can find about a Maryland train station, even if it’s a giant Christmas Tree. I’m not sure the years the tree(s) were decorated, but from what I understand, the tree(s) outside the Jackson Station in Cecil County were pretty popular.

Further research has found the actual picture of the Jackson (Whitaker) Station, which was just North of the Aiken Station and just South of the Leslie Station.

Update – Emailer advised the Jackson Station was a Stagecoach stop and Not a Train Station. I’m willing to bet the old station was near the old B&O tracks near Jackson Station Road in Cecil County.
