Love Point – Maryland

Love Point, at one time, was used as a park as Steamboats brought passengers from Baltimore. There was a Love Point train line that went from the Point to Lewes Pier in Delaware. Love Point “replaced” the Claiborne stop along the way to Ocean City . A recent drive to the area found homes dotting the shoreline and nothing left of the park or the station.

In 1910, there was debate of using Love Point instead of Claiborne. The article called it “M&M” or “Merchants & Manufactures Assn. ” which would cut times along the line, while allowing access to Philadelphia.

In 1924, The line from Love Point to Lewes Delaware was being reopened after a brief shut down on the Maryland, Delaware and Virginia Railroad, which underwent a foreclosure and was now the Baltimore, Chesapeake & Atlantic Railroad.
